Do you have a household item you’d like to smash against the wall?
Do you have something you use everyday that you’d like to destroy forever?
Do you have something precious you’d like to break into tiny pieces?
This was your chance. On 20th June at Regent Road Trading Estate in Salford I invited people to bring an object and tell me about it, before hurling it against the side of an abandoned building. The afternoon was made up of some twenty visitors and it transformed from one-to-one appointments into a kind of collective party of mass destruction.
We raised our glasses and smashed them. It was cathartic, fun and triumphant. Each person received a souvenir piece of their object. Here’s to smashing shit and sticking around after to see that when one thing breaks a million new pieces are made.
